Joans Rivers Cracks Me Up And Makes Me Miss New York

Last night Joan and Melissa Rivers premiered their new reality show on WE, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? It was good.  It was funny as hell and Joan was spot-on.  Melissa has a great set-up in Malibu complete with a cute kid, a boyfriend, a pornstar nanny and a sprinkle of friends.  Joan wanted to be closer to her daughter and grandson, so much to the dismay of her New York circle, Joan picked up (urns and all) and moved to California. I laughed the entire episode.  It was a welcome relief from Nene and Kim‘s dumbass fight on Sunday’s The Real Housewives Of Atlanta.  In fact, don’t delete this premiere episode.  You’ll need something to lift your spirits after The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills reunion airs Thursday night.  That and a paper brag for breathing.

There were too many moments that made me laugh, but I’ll try to remember a few:

Joan’s big announcement to a group of bitter, jaded New Yorkers.   No one seemed happy about her move to California, least of all next-door neighbor, Joe.  When you’re in New York, why bother moving to that flakey place where the sun shines all the time.  It’s unnatural for it to be that nice somewhere.

“In La you see somebody in flip flips, getting into a big car.”  Cue the New Yorker’s judgemental face.

Joan mouthed to Melissa after meeting Dominica: “Are you f___ crazy?”  My thoughts exactly, Joan.  Put a shirt on, Dominica.

Conrad has an attitude.  Even though he is trying to remain loyal to Melissa, I believe him to be a bit disrespectful towards Joan.  Homey don’t play that.

Dominica asked Joan to apply sunscreen to her back at the beach, and promptly took her bikini top off.  Thank God for Joan.

Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? airs Tuesdays at 9pm on WE TV.
