While I love me some song and dance (REALLY love), I sometimes have a hard time getting the point of a Glee episode, and last night’s episode was no exception. It’s obvious that the stories are written around the music (and I don’t want that to change), but sometimes it’s just hard to make sense of what we’re supposed to follow. Last night, it was time for “Duets” and the winners would walk away with a free meal at Glee‘s answer to the Olive Garden, Breadsticks.
Rachel and Finn are very careful to make sure Sam (who has won my heart) doesn’t quit New Directions. They throw their chances at a free meal so that Sam will stay in New Directions so they can all go to New York and win Nationals. And when Kurt comes on too strong with Sam (although he was spot-on with the hair color), Finn rushes to do damage control. According to me, Finn’s too dumb to handle things like making sure Kurt doesn’t scare Sam off.
After all is said and done, Kurt is the sole out-and-proud gay in a high school full of, well, straight teenagers (In the heartland, no less). And like his dad said, someday Kurt will find someone as brave as he is to slow dance with and hold hands. But until then, Kurt will remain different and original, and learn to be alone. *Sigh.*
Best part of the episode: Rachel and Finn’s costume choices for their duet. A love song, a child and a priest. Classy. I don’t even know what they were singing. I was laughing too hard.
Me, I’m a fan of Rachel-Kurt duets, so their rendition of Streisand’s “Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy” just sent me to the moon. Although I could have done without Rachel’s contorted facial expressions. She really outdid herself this time around.
And who’s heart didn’t melt at the sight of Sam and Quinn falling in like? That turned me into a giddy little teenager. And hah! Sam used Sun-In!
I Spy In this Episode:
“What’s a duet?”
“A blanket.”
UTTERLY confused by Brittany and Santana’s hook-up. Are they or aren’t they? It was weird and it’s ok with me if you skip those kinds of scenes in the future.
There’s that face again, Rachel.
Mercedes and Santana should have won the gift certificate. Their duet of “River Deep, Mountain High” was unreal.
“We’s be goin’ to Breadstick.”
Is Rachel sharing her sweaters with Artie? Autumn leaves! Death by Argyle!
Ok, this is the worst Rachel’s facial expressions have gotten.
I clap at the end of every episode ’cause I love moosic.
