I Hated It

“We Are The World 25″ premiered during the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics. I hated it.  I think the reason I’m a hater was because the song was updated with current beats and infused with rap.  Despite the amount of talent in the room, “We Are The World” was a song that should have stayed original.  I didn’t appreciate seeing Justin Beiber in the opening, nor did I enjoy watching Miley Cyrus try to take it home.  Even Celine Dion (whom I adore) didn’t pass for Cindy Lauper.  I needed Huey Lewis back.  I needed Dione Warwick.  And what was Vince Vaughn doing there?  I did love watching Randy Jackson sing his little heart out.

Is that Stephanie Pratt at minute 4:12?

While I recognize what Wyclef Jean, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones are trying to do for Haiti relief, I can’t like this version the way I liked the original.  Judge for yourself.

Update: Jay-Z hated it, too.

I agree completely! It was butchering a classic.

I hated it too. They need to cut Celine out. She doesn't even show to her own country's events. She totally annoys me.

At 4:12 I believe that's Julianne Hough from Dancing with Stars turned country singer. If it is Stephanie Pratt-my god what has the world come to?

    Love the blog!
